Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how GatherCam ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, iOS app, App Clip, and any other services that link to this policy (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Information we collect

We only collect information that we need in order to operate, maintain, and improve GatherCam. The information we collect falls into the following categories:

• Event and guest information. When you create or join an event, we may collect information such as event title, date or end date, per–guest photo limit, and your display name and email address (if you choose to provide them).
• Device identifier. In the iOS app and App Clip we generate and store a random device ID on your device. We use this ID to:
  • enforce per–guest photo limits set by the host,
  • track how many photos or videos this device has uploaded,
  • show you a history of events you have joined and contributed to, and
  • help us investigate abuse, fraud, or technical issues related to a specific device.
• Photos and videos. When you upload photos or videos to an event, we collect and store those files (and associated metadata such as upload time, file type, and event ID) on our infrastructure or a third–party storage provider on our behalf.
• Usage data. We may collect basic, aggregated usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location inferred from IP address, device characteristics, and timestamps. We use this to keep the service reliable and improve the product. We do not sell this data.
• Contact information. If you email us or contact us through support channels, we collect the information you choose to provide (such as your email address and the content of your message) so we can respond.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• operate, maintain, and provide the Services;
• associate uploaded photos and videos with the correct event and device;
• enforce event rules such as per–guest photo limits and event end times;
• allow hosts to view and manage the gallery for their events, and optionally share that gallery with guests once an event ends;
• send transactional communications (for example, sending a gallery link to the email address you provided, or replying to support requests);
• protect the security and integrity of the Services, including detecting, preventing, and responding to fraud, abuse, or technical issues; and
• analyze aggregated usage trends to improve GatherCam and develop new features.

3. How event hosts may use your content

When you upload photos or videos to an event, you retain full ownership of your content. However, by contributing to an event you grant:

• GatherCam a license to host, store, process, and display your content as necessary to operate the Services; and
• The event host a non–exclusive license to view, download, and share photos and videos from their event gallery for their personal or event–related purposes, in accordance with our Terms of Use.

If the host chooses to turn on "share gallery with guests" for an event, guests who joined that event may be allowed to view and download photos and videos from the shared gallery once the event has ended.

4. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We only share information in the following circumstances:

• With service providers. We use third–party providers (for example, cloud hosting, storage, and analytics providers) to help us operate the Services. These providers may process personal data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
• With event hosts. If you provide your name or email address while joining an event, we may share that information with the host so they can manage the event and optionally send you a link to the gallery afterwards.
• For legal reasons. We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our terms; to protect the security or integrity of the Services; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GatherCam, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, in which case we will make reasonable efforts to inform you of any material changes.

5. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes, including to:

• maintain event galleries for hosts and guests;
• comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements; and
• maintain reasonable business records and backups for a limited period of time.

Event media and related data may be removed or anonymized after an event is over or after a reasonable retention period, at our discretion or at the request of the host, subject to our legal obligations.

6. Your choices and rights

• Device ID. You can request that we delete data associated with your device ID by contacting us and including your device ID, which is visible in the app Settings screen.
• Event content. If you want a specific photo or video removed from an event, you can contact the host directly or reach out to us and we will work with the host to review the request.
• Email communications. If we send you an email (for example, a gallery link), you can reply or contact us to request that we stop sending non–essential communications to that address.

7. Security

We use reasonable physical, technical, and organizational measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Age requirements and children's privacy

The Services are intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use GatherCam. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. International transfers

GatherCam is operated from the Republic of Türkiye. We use cloud providers and infrastructure that may store and process data in the Republic of Türkiye, the European Union, the United States, or other countries where our service providers are located. These locations may have data protection laws that are different from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Services, you consent to these international transfers, storage, and processing of your information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by posting a notice in the app or on the website. Your continued use of the Services after any changes become effective means you agree to the revised policy.
